After making the plunge into using a sequenced drum machine, we still wanted some sort of live percussionist to add some sort of spontaneity to the live show. The Jester walked with the same crowd that the rest of us had and had already offered his services to the band by roadieing a few shows. Upon hearing of our desire for a percussionist, the Jester offered his services for the now vacated position as well. The hitch, which was all too common in this band by now, he had never touched a drumstick in his life.

Within a month the Jester could hide behind the sequence well enough, but when the recording sessions for the "...As the Curtain Falls.." CD commenced, it was becoming all too obvious that it wasn't enough. Some songs were tracked in so many takes that Zadoc himself went in and re-cut some of the Jester's parts as they were painfully off the beat. It was decided shortly thereafter to move the Jester to the keyboard position.

Things did not get much better due to the Jester's military service and lack of gusto for the new instrument. The Jester was let go about a month before Zadoc himself left the band.

In 1998, after Zadoc's next project the 7th Sin came to a close, the Jester was more rehearsed and ready than ever to play his percussive drumming again. It was decided that the name Zadoc: Vampire Theatre would be resurrected with former guitarist Kirk Brinley ready to join the project with Zadoc and theatrical maestro / antagonist Dan Gober.

Unfortunately, it was not to be. The Jester became a father and left the project early on to prepare for fatherhood and married life.
